Welcome to The Pilates Room, a studio dedicated to promoting the authentic work of Joseph Pilates— also, my happy place!

Pilates is a method of body conditioning geared toward the simultaneous integration of control, coordination, precision, breath, concentration and flow of movement. Originally called Contrology, Pilates integrates the mind to uniformly develop the body, focusing on flexibility, strength and alignment.

I began Pilates in 1999 because all of my time in the gym was falling WAY short and I was in pain, and bulky.  It has now become a way of life for me and I am so thrilled to call it my profession. In 2006 I completed a 1000 hour comprehensive certification with Excel Movement Studios in Washington, DC and became a 3rd generation teacher.

The benefits of practicing Pilates are vast! You will gain control of your body, strengthen what needs to be stronger and lengthen what needs to be longer. We live in a very sedentary world which results in excessive pressure into our spine and joints, and throws off our balance. As we age our bodies stiffen into our patterns making it more difficult to counteract them, so it is NEVER too late to start! You will move better, feel better and look better.
